Cotton Summit 2017

At the invitation of the Burkinabe authorities, the EU-Africa Cotton Partnership will have the privilege of organizing a week in Ouagadougou – Burkina Faso dedicated to African cotton in coordination with the Faso Dan Fani Fashion week.

Since 2004, the objective of the EU-Africa Cotton Partnership has been to contribute to the fight against poverty in African cotton areas by improving the competitiveness, value-added and sustainability of African cotton value chain.

African cotton, textile processing, talents and expertise of the African players, mobilized throughout the cotton value chain, will be represented in Ouagadougou from 25 March to 1 April 2017. Various events will be organized on the occasion of the 22nd COS-cotton meeting, the presentation of the results of the EU-Africa cotton program and the second edition of the Faso Dan Fani Fashion week.

This week dedicated to African cotton will bring together actors from different African countries producing and/or transforming cotton and will be the framework for:

- Conferences on aspects of agricultural production, textile processing, promotion and marketing, where cross-cutting issues of education and training, research and sustainability frameworks will be addressed; - Training workshops for weavers, master’s dyers who use natural dyes, textile and fashion designers; - A high level meeting on the political support of the defense of cotton value chains.
